Welcome to our second edition of Creative Ways of Living, where we’re widening your aperture around more creative (and gratifying!) ways of working and living. Ways that allow us to build our identities around all of the vibrant – and varied! – different parts of ourselves.

In our conversation with Bri Leever, located in beautiful Kona, Hawaii, we unpack her experience with the traditional corporate lifestyle, the moment that gave her permission to explore a different path, and what she discovered about herself as a result.

Out Of Office Network is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Bri’s Unique Life Portfolio:

Alice Katter: Can you tell us what your portfolio of life looks like?

Bri Leever: In terms of work, usually my focus is 80% going towards Ember - my community strategist role - and about 20% going to running the campervan operations. I’m really careful to not let my businesses run my life but serve my life instead. Living in Hawaii helps this a lot :) Then there’s a lot of time that goes into our dog, who’s a puppy. Then there are water activities, we love being in the water, surfing, and scuba diving. My partner is also building surfboards Our house is 10 minutes from the water, so it’s a dream. Also, food is a big part. We make most of our food at home, so that takes a lot of time with cleaning and prepping. Then my partner and our relationship is significant. And our relationship with our friends and family.

Alice Katter: What does living a creative life mean to you?

Bri Leever: Constantly running experiments. That's what it means to me. I think my creative life is one big quest to find the next little golden nugget in my experiment and to see what I liked, what I  didn't like, where my strengths were, and where I needed help. That, to me, unlocks my creativity and keeps me creative because my experiments are over a wide breadth of topics or things. It keeps me always trying something new.

AK: Take us through a day in your life.
